What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty removes excess skin — and, where needed, small pockets of fat — from the upper or lower eyelids. It corrects hooded upper lids that make eyes look tired, and under-eye bags that no cream will ever fix.
It is one of the highest-satisfaction procedures in aesthetic surgery: a small operation with a strikingly fresh, well-rested result.
Are you a good candidate?
If your upper lids rest on your lashes, your eyes feel heavy by evening, or under-eye bags run in your family regardless of sleep, you are likely a good candidate. Most patients are over 40, but hereditary hooding can justify surgery earlier.
Dry-eye conditions, thyroid disease and certain eye problems require careful assessment — the surgeon will review your eye history during the video consultation.
The process, step by step
Upper eyelid surgery is often done under local anaesthesia in under an hour; lower lids or combined surgery may use sedation or general anaesthesia. Incisions hide in the natural crease of the upper lid and just below the lash line (or inside the lid) for the lower.
You return to your hotel the same day with cool compresses and clear instructions. Stitches come out around day five to seven.
Recovery
Swelling and bruising around the eyes are normal for one to two weeks — sunglasses are your friend. Most patients feel presentable within 5–7 days and back to normal life within two weeks.
Because recovery is short, blepharoplasty combines beautifully with a quiet week in Agadir: morning walks on the beach, stitches out, home refreshed.
Risks — honestly
Risks include dry or irritated eyes, temporary blurred vision, asymmetry, visible scarring (rare in the eyelid crease) and, very rarely, difficulty closing the eyes fully. An experienced professor surgeon removes tissue conservatively to protect both function and expression.
Why Agadir?
Blepharoplasty costs €2,800–5,000 across Western Europe; in Agadir it is €1,400–1,900 with a professor surgeon. A short flight, a week by the sea, and you return looking like yourself on your best-rested day.
Frequently asked questions
Will there be visible scars?
Upper eyelid incisions sit in the natural crease and fade to a fine, nearly invisible line. Lower lid incisions hide just under the lashes or inside the eyelid itself.
How long do results last?
Upper eyelid results typically last 10–15 years, and many patients never need a touch-up. Lower lid fat removal is usually permanent.
Can it improve my vision?
If heavy upper lids obstruct your field of vision, yes — removing the excess skin can measurably widen it. The surgeon will assess this during your consultation.
How long should I stay in Agadir?
Five to seven days is enough for stitches to be removed and a final check before you fly home.
